The Dringhouses Local History Group’s 2024 programme kicks off on 18th January at 7.30pm at St Edwards Church Hall with a talk from Catherine Warr on Yorkshire folklore, customs and traditions.

On the evening of 20th October local author Pauline Kirk will be giving a reading from her new book at Dringhouses Library.

On Thursday 19th October the History Group will hear a talk by the Civic Trust on their work in the city.

All residents are invited to a meeting of the Dringhouses & Woodthorpe Ward Committee on Wednesday 23rd November at Woodthorpe Primary School. There is a drop-in session from 6.30pm with the meeting starting at 7pm. The local PSCO will be in attendance to discuss any community safety matters that local residents would like to raise.

At their meeting on Thursday 15th September, Dringhouses Local History Group will hear a talk on the 1942 Baedeker Raid on York.

Friends of Hob Moor have organised a Butterfly Walk on Saturday 9th July from 2pm. The meeting point is the yellow railings at the entrance to the underpass from Little Hob Moor.

Residents are invited to call into a drop-in session being held every Monday from 1 to 2.30pm at St James the Deacon Church on Sherringham Drive in Woodthorpe. Dringhouses & Woodthorpe ward’s new Local Area Co-ordinator, Catherine Claudius-Cole, will be available for a chat and to offer support and advice.

This Easter holiday, York City Knights Foundation will again be offering free inflatable arena activity sessions for young people.
